In anticipation of my trip to New Zealand, my coworker sent me this animated short about a kiwi bird.
When I saw it was someone’s Master’s Thesis project, I wasn’t expecting to be blown away. Â But not only was the short fantastic, it ended up bringing me to tears. Â It’s beautiful in a really bittersweet way.
Dony Permedi made this short over ten years ago.  He writes:
My Master’s Thesis Animation, which I completed while I was at The School of Visual Arts, MFA Computer Art, in New York City. Created using Maya, After Effects, and rigged using The Setup Machine by Anzovin studios. If you would like to download there is a small version at my website: www.donysanimation.com
The short has an 8.2 rating out of 10 on IMDB. Â For someone’s Master’s Thesis. Â And it very much has a Pixar feel to it.
It’s also relevant, I promise. Â But I don’t want to say too much before you watch it.
Let’s just say we aren’t the only ones who have aspirations.
Ok but does he go splat at the end? Poor little kiwi
aww super cute!
