When I’m in Austin, I always try to make sure I’m staying at the Driskill if at all possible. Â It’s got the Texas flavor and kitsch-factor I’m looking for.
And because since so many people took up residence in it, it supposedly is very haunted!
I’ve stayed many times in this suite, which is very old-school looking.
I love how old Texas it is!
I’ve stayed in the same suite a few nights, and one night, a rose suddenly appeared on our bed when we had just stepped outside to look at the artwork. Â Ghost?!
The problem with staying alone in a haunted room like this is you start to go a little mad after a little while.
And I decided the cork was my friend.
Me when housekeeping cleared it away:
The only thing disappointing about the suite is the view from the window:
The bar downstairs is a lot of fun and is complete with a longhorn on the wall.
There’s a happy hour where the appetizers and drinks are heavily discounted from 5-7 Sunday through Wednesday, and 4-7 Thursday  through Saturday.
I love grabbing the crispy brussel sprouts.
And the bacon-wrapped dates.
The diamond amenity breakfast is basically anything off the breakfast menu, and you can eat it outside.
And everything I’ve had so far has been great.
