Spending Two Weeks at the Grand Hyatt Kauai

I mentioned in my talk on business travel that I went a while without being able to spend points–so when I found myself in Hawaii for work travel, I really extended the trip.

I did this by hopping over to Kauai and staying at the Grand Hyatt Kauai resort.

Because I wanted to maximize my stay, I didn’t book into a suite–which was fine, because I wanted to maximize my time in the sun.  So all my added up points got me two weeks.

And as part of the Diamond Amenity, we got a day in a cabana.  You can choose a cabana in an adults only section in case you wanted to rest or generally have quiet.

The one thing that struck me about the adults section was that some (not most) parents kept trying to sneak their kids into the section, upset their kids weren’t allowed, and insisting they should be allowed since they were with an adult.  I’m not sure why there was a mini uproar over this because there seriously was nothing that exciting in this section.  It was just off to the side.

You could also get a cabana in the lagoon area.

The rest of the property was really beautiful.

And the regular sized room was just fine for us!

The ocean view was better than any suite we could have had.  We loved sitting out there in the evening, sipping our drinks and listening to the ocean.

They also sent up multiple amenities.

But we were also celebrating our honeymoon, so I think that’s why!

All in all, a beautiful property.  I have a build up of photos for posts specific to different restaurants and activities on the property, but I need to find that SD card (fingers crossed).
