Amazon has a deal currently on an Aukey 4-port USB car charger.  This charger is great if you have a lot of electronics that need charging while traveling, or if your family owns a lot of smartphones!
It also supports 2.4 amps so that it can charge iPads just fine.
It’s on sale for $4 off, plus if you act quick enough, there’s a lightning sale on it.Â
I especially like multi-port car chargers to use on airplanes.  If the plane uses that type of connection, you can help out a neighbor who doesn’t have a car charger (or three neighbors).
- AiPower recognizes the charging requirements of your USB powered devices and matches power output for safe and efficient charging
- Charge 4 devices simultaneously at full speed with 2.4A of dedicated power output per USB port
- Compatible with all USB powered devices including Android & Apple smartphones & tablets
- Built-in safeguards protect your devices against excessive current, overheating, and overcharging
Please note, if you purchase anything through my affiliate links, I may receive some credit. Â As always, I appreciate your support.
Danger!
Cigarette lighter outlets are not designed for high current draw over long periods.
It was designed, to run a lighter, for a minute or so. Plug one 2.1A device into, probably no issue.
I had a thermoelectric cooler plugged into one over a long cross-country trip. Those things actually draw more amps than a mini-fridge. The plug was HOT the whole way, to the point of the plastic eventually melting enough to be unusable. Do not recommend splitting a single lighter 4 ways.
In my Sienna “AdventureWagon”, I have fitted up an Anderson Powerpole connector for road trips when I need to hook up a mini-fridge or the electric Mokka pot or anything else high amperage. For USB devices I have a couple of 2.1A ports that I added, with their own wiring and fuse.
Wow!
Mobile phones are not high current drawing devices. I have my and my wife’s phones plugged in at the same time together with a GPS without a problem. I have never felt the Aukey getting hot.
