Weird Delta Bug Making Flights 10x More Expensive

Detroit Free Press is reporting some insane pricing coming out of Delta flights.  What a strange Delta error.

For example:

A search on Friday for flights from San Francisco to Detroit for Aug. 27 to Sept. 2 showed the non-stop coach fare was $13,735 round-trip — more than $7,000 each way. First class was showing more than $20,000.

The DFP contacted Delta about these airfares and Delta responded by fixing the specific flights they noted.

But DFP found Delta error after Delta error still:

However, as of 4 p.m. errors persisted, with the $13,000 fares also showing up on other dates from Aug. 28 through Sept. 3 and coming and going on the Aug. 27 to Sept. 2 dates.

The moral of the story is, if flight prices seem bizarre, there probably is something weird going on.  We’re used to mistake fares that price things in our favor, but there’s always the possibility of mistake fares that price things in an adverse way.

This is a lesson that it doesn’t hurt to call.  If Delta is your preferred carrier and is showing flights ten times more expensive than everyone else, something probably is wrong.  Detroit Free Press was able to get the flight prices changed by calling in, so it doesn’t hurt to try to see if the fare displayed is a Delta error.

Which goes to show you, while some flight prices can be too good to be true, some can be too bad to be true as well!

Is it slower than the other Boarding Area blogs? We have similar ads, so I can ask them to look into what’s making it so slow!
