The Whole Foods across the way from me has a wine bar in it. Â And I’m not embarrassed to admit I’ve gone there to have a drink or two from time to time.
But Keri told me about another Whole Foods by me that does this one better.
I stopped by today.
The tasting room is non-obvious. Â It’s tucked back into the right corner of the store. Â There’s an enormous hot food area (near a sorta-restaurant in the place too), and you can take up any of the hot food to eat. Â I would say the hot food area is almost the same size as my entire whole foods.
When you go upstairs, there are all to wall bottles of wine you can taste.
They are available in 2, 4, and 6 ounce pours, except for the really expensive stuff, which starts at 1 ounce pours.
The pours start at $1.50 and can go up pretty high.
You can load money onto a card with a chip. Â You put it in the machine and push the amount you want.
Once your card is in, it starts flashing the price for each type of pour.
In addition to getting wine from the machine, you can also order bubbly.
If you didn’t bring up food from downstairs, you can also order food from up in the tasting room.
There’s a happy hour on Wednesdays that I want to check out. Â A dozen of oysters for $12.
All of the wines there are available for sale and the price sheet is right there.
It definitely made for a great afternoon and gave me a chance to try a bunch of new wines. Â I’ll definitely be back to try more.
