Thank You Texas, plus Sandy Assistance Round-Up

Not only is Texas Home to Mommy Power Blogger Mommy Points, but it is also responsible for my parents getting their power back.  The wait-list for power in New York was up to two weeks, but we got hopeful when reports came in of power crews from Texas driving up in droves to my parents’ neighborhood.  Sure enough, they just received power now!  I knew I had a soft-spot for Texan men for a reason.

With the immediate news story of Sandy being over, it can be easy to forget the devastation that happened there. I’m glad the death count was as low as it was (but wish it were zero), but many people lost their homes and possessions, and are still having trouble getting gasoline and food.  It’s about to get very cold in New York too.

If you want to help, you can visit www.redcross.org, call 1-800-HELPNOW or text the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

  1. This is a great roundup! The more we share the more help they will hopefully receive! I’ve been through many Hurricanes in TX so I feel for them and their families

  2. Ha ha, I am def not a power blogger, but I am proud to say that several power trucks from my hometown city headed to the NE to help! In fact, they were at my parents house helping with an issue when they got the call. Teamwork. 😉

    • Maybe it’s the team that helped my parents 😉 I’m hoping the estimates end up dropping for everyone else from all this help pouring in.
