Sadly, Angela Lansbury *Won’t* Be on Game of Thrones

Yesterday, I heard some news that made more more excited about TV than I’ve been in a while.  Angela Lansbury is joining the cast of Game of Thrones!

Unfortunately, that turned out to be a rumor that turned into a news story.

From Entertainment Weekly:

It’s been widely reported Lansbury might appear in season 7 of HBO’sGame of Thrones.

This is not accurate, the actress’ team told EW on Wednesday.

The rumor began over Labor Day weekend. The original source was a German website for tabloid newspaper Bild, which is described on Wikipedia as “notorious for its mix of gossip, inflammatory language, and sensationalism.â€

I’m incredibly disappointed by this.  I love Angela Lansbury, and from the reaction the original “news” got, so do a lot of other people.  So maybe it’s time to see her in a modern drama.  It would be an awesome Game of Thrones like twist to have her show up after all this false press about her showing up.

Eh? Eh?  Do you hear that David Benioff and D. B. Weiss?
