I just called paypal and talked to representative “Kim”. Described the promotion and mentioned the URL. She said that it is their promotion. -TheEdge

Yay! Free money. Thank you!!
Sigh. I don’t understand why companies want to run promos hosted on new suspicious looking domains instead of using a hostname in their existing domain.
You shouldn’t have infinite trust in a hostname like activate.promos.paypal.com, but it would be safer than an arbitrary new domain.
In any case, this promotion doesn’t require that you enter your PayPal credentials, only that you enter an email address that has a PayPal account linked. While that’s potentially somewhat useful information to a scammer, it’s not all that useful. For most scams, the scammer might as well just assume that any email address has a PayPal account associated with it.
You bloggers should have your feet held to fire! Don’t post with all kinds of other websites’ links! It is unethical to lead readers to what may be a virus spawning website! I am in a bad enough mood today, to get my state’s Attorney General after you!
The WhoIs for the website shows it is owned by Paypal. If you look at the discussion on SlickDeals, they verified it.

The instructions are clear as mud. It appears that you have to sign up for a new PayPal account in order to get the $5 offer?
If that is the case, then, no thanks. Already got a PP account. I don’t need to clutter up my life with yet another (unnecessary) account. For $5? Seriously?
I just typed in my pre-existing one
OK, I tried using my existing PP account. Got an error message that asked me to sign in instead, and gave me sign-in screen. So, I signed in.
Now, WHERE ARE THE OFFERS??? Where is the 5 bucks???
I believe the terms & conditions on mine said it would take 7 days or more to show up. Unfortunately I didn’t take a screen shot, so not quite sure.
