Surely you can’t be serious.
I am serious. And don’t call me Shirley.
According to USA Today’s Kim Wendel:
A Jet Airways flight from Bangkok to Delhi had to make an emergency landing after the captain fell ill and, as a doctor was tending to him, another passenger was helping the co-pilot land the plane.
Unlike the movie (thankfully), the rest of the flight was pretty uneventful with no need to bend any precious planes.
What’s crazy though is the follow-up story Wendel tells about an emergency on a US Airways flight. It also turns out fine, but read about the announcement made!
But this news article was perfect timing. Last night, I watched the movie Airport and spotted a lot of scenes that inspired Airplane!.
It’s no Zero Hour!–the movie Airplane! basically lifted the script too. (In fact, they had to buy the rights to the movie since it copied it so much!)
But the opening sequence with the loading and unloading zones? Lifted from the novel of Airport.
