You may have noticed that Tiff has been posting much more often than she has in the past. Â We’ve “promoted” her from guest blogger to Contributing Writer.
I figured it was worth introducing her again. Â After all, her kids are older than when we last did that!
Tiff is a master of non-rev flying and a mother of two boys, 10 and 5 years old. She’s been involved with travel deals since the late 90s (where she mastered the trick of getting bumped off your flight), then started flying non-rev when she married into being a D3 on American. Which is also how they got almost stuck in Hawaii last year.
She first started traveling as a kid with her parents. The first big trip she remembers is a Caribbean cruise from when she was six. Though they don’t cruise as much as they used to, she still thinks it’s an excellent way to travel with kids.
The first unusual non-rev she did was in ’05 when she flew through San Juan to get to Dallas from Philly. She also ended up doing a side trip to Paris with her family to non-rev home from Europe on trip.
The best trip she’s been on was when her and her husband went to Israel in 2011.
She started getting back into the miles/points game (after a long hiatus) when Club Carlson had their “Big Night Giveaway”.
She started flying with Spirit Airlines on a whim in 2012 when it occurred to her that three one-way legs might make more sense than flying two round-trip flights back-to-back.
She and her family live in North Texas. She homeschools her boys which is how they can be a little more spontaneous with their travels.
Her parents live in central Florida which means frequent trips to Orlando and Disney World. π
She enjoys going wine tasting with her husband and friends when the opportunity comes up.
And, for the record, Tiff does NOT like Spirit’s wine-in-a-can, but for the right price she may be able to be convinced to give them another shot. π
She hopes her sons will grow up to love traveling as much as she and her husband do.
Congrats on your promotion, Tiff π
Thanks!!! =D
Great to hear of your promotion Tiff! Now show ’em how to work the runway with those heels on! π
I’ve really enjoyed reading your reviews and tips of Spirit Airlines. I flew Spirit for the first time earlier this year and surprisingly had a great experience. I flew ORD-LGA for $83 (taxes/fees included) and opted to buy the “Big Front Seat” for only $25! Unbelievable but super awesome! It’s definitely no-frills but for the price I’m quite happy.
Thanks! π
I’m glad you had a good experience flying with them! Obviously most of my experiences with Spirit have been positive. Even the ones that haven’t been as great aren’t above and beyond what everyone experiences on any airline eventually.
