Malaysia Airlines Loses Contact with 777; 777 Crashes with 280 Passengers Onboard

Another Malaysia Airlines flight disappeared off the radar:

From KXAN:

Popular flight tracking website Flightaware.com shows the plane was last over Ukraine when it disappeared from tracking.

Twitter exploded with the news in various languages, including pictures and videos of plumes of smoke.

The area where the aircraft is reportedly missing is has seen frequent rocket attacks in recent days. Unconfirmed media reports from the region indicate the aircraft may have been shot down.

All I can say right now is, holy crap, and I’m praying for survivors.

Update:  There were 280 passengers and 15 crew members.

From International Business Times:

An adviser to Ukraine’s Interior Minister claimed the plane was shot down.

Earlier a Ukrainian security spokesman has accused Russia’s air force of shooting down one of its fighter jets while it was on a mission over Ukrainian territory.

Earlier this week, Kiev had also blamed Moscow for another Ukrainian military cargo that downed as it was flying near the border.

Russian aviation sources said the plane didn’t enter the Russian airspace when it was expected to and crashed in Ukraine about 60km from the border.

It “began to drop, afterwards it was found burning on the ground on Ukrainian territory,” the unnamed source said.
