A runway at the Gerald R. Ford was shut down for about fifteen minutes after a coyote played chicken with an airplane.
Tara Hernandez, a spokeswoman for the Grand Rapids airport, tells WZZM that the incident forced the airport to suspend operations on the runway for about 15 minutes while crews responded. That prompted short delays to several flights, according to The Grand Rapids Press.
“Our job in that situation is clean-up duty … making sure the runway is clear of all debris,” Hernandez adds to the Press.

Although measures are in place to keep animals off the runway, this one was cunning enough to get past them.  But not cunning enough to not run in front of a moving plane.
I guess the coyote is now just carrion. Â Get it? Â Car–never mind.
