When flights get cancelled, usually you can get rebooked within a few days. Â But some passengers are in a tough situation after PEOPLExpress cancels flights for the next two-and-a-half weeks.
If you had a flight booked on PEOPLExpress airlines between now and mid-October, it’s time to make alternate plans.
The low-cost carrier, which resumed flights into and out of Newark Liberty International Airport in July, said on Friday it has suspended service until “on or about Oct. 16.”
The airline cited “aircraft and crew availability and maintenance issues” in a press release explaining why it will temporarily shut down.
All affected passengers are getting a refund on the airline but that doesn’t really make things right. Â They are all within the three-week window where flights get more expensive, and if you were already planning on flying a low-cost carrier, this can make a vacation impossible.
I guess that’s the risk you run when you book on a brand new ultra low fare airline. I empathize with the folks who are out on a limb now with foiled plans, but it speaks to the whole “get what you pay for” thing.
