Love With Food Review: Gluten-Free Box

Love With Food Review:  Gluten-Free Box

Guest Post by Mrs. Pizza

As a mom of 2 who’s married to a New York Italian trained chef who believes food cures all, eliminating pasta, breads, cookies, and bagels from my diet is often a losing battle.  But why fight it you ask?  I don’t, completely.   I believe in moderation and fortunately for me I don’t have any health issue that prevent me from eating gluten.

But, I do eat in moderation and have found that too much of a good thing leaves me tired and sluggish everyday.  Periodically, I’ll eliminate gluten from my diet for a few weeks and I always feel better, more energetic.  So, when I can sacrifice a bit I do.

Love with Food allows you to try new organic and all-natural snacks each month delivered to your door.  You can choose between a tasting box, the deluxe box and a gluten-free box for its food subscription boxes options.  Each box runs $7.99 – $19.99/month.  The Gluten Free Box was the sample I got to try.  At a price $19.99/month you get 10-12 items.  The box was packed full.  I received a total of 12 things, and lucky for me a duplicate pack of the chocolate cookies.

What did it come with?

Smokey Bacon Roasted Kale Chips by Rhythm Superfoods

Love With Food Review: Gluten-Free Box

I make Kale chips with my husband’s salt rub and the kid’s love it.  The bacon flavor was more of a barbeque taste and a lot of kale taste.  The kid’s tried it and didn’t mind the taste but didn’t go back for seconds.

Simply Sweeet Potato Corn Tortilla Chips by Simply Sprouted Way Better Snacks

Love With Food Review: Gluten-Free Box

We buy something very similar from Costco and it’s a huge hit with the family.  They taste just like to a tortilla chip but with a cracker feel.  You really don’t taste the sweet potato.  A winner!

2 packs of Double Chocolate Crunchy Cookies by Enjoy Life

Love With Food Review: Gluten-Free Box

These were really good.  Extra crunchy with a hint of cinnamon and lots of chocolate.  A healthy chocolate guilty pleasure for sure!

Oatmeal Fruit Squeeze (Raspberry Coconut) by Muck Pack

Love With Food Review: Gluten-Free Box

It was not the kiddie puréed version but chunky.  It tasted really good but felt funny chewing it and almost made me gag at first.

Coconut Oil Kettle Cooked Potato Chip by Boulder Canyon Authentic Goods

Love With Food Review: Gluten-Free Box

Ask anyone and they will tell you I love coconut.  Coconut in slices and shredded, coconut water, coconut milk (and I use coconut oil on everything).  The only thing I like better is potato chips.  Put the two favorites together it can’t be all bad, right?  I will have to say they tasted a bit rancid. It left an oily feel in my mouth.  Very disappointed.

Organic Fruit Snacks by Tasty Brand

Love With Food Review: Gluten-Free Box

This was the kid’s favorite.  It was like a burst of juice in my mouth, one child said.  The great part is there is no artificial anything.

Kid’s Organic Chews (Sour Citrus) by Honey Stinger:

Love With Food Review: Gluten-Free Box

Fruit Chew with no High Fructose Corn Syrup, Artificial flavors or colorings.  Good but we like the Tasty Brand better.

Chickpea Snacks (Sea Salt) by Biena

Love With Food Review: Gluten-Free Box

I love toasted Chickpea snack and this satisfied my salt craving.  Of course with any toasted chickpea product cottonmouth is inevitable so water is necessary.

The GFB (Chocolate Peanut Butter) by Gluten Free Bar:

Love With Food Review: Gluten-Free Box

Vegan, Non-GM0, soy & dairy free and no gluten.  What’s left?, Fiber apparently, 12 grams of protein and a lot of flavor.  This was another winner

Black Rice Cracker by Laiki: Made with Black Rice, Palm Oil and Sea Salt

Love With Food Review: Gluten-Free Box

These were very delicious and unlike any rice snack I’ve ever had.  It was crunchy and savory.  It made up for the kettle chips not passing the test.

Orzo pasta by Delallo:

Love With Food Review: Gluten-Free Box

Made in Italy this pasta is made with corn and rice flour.  It pretty much tasted like rice to me.

Overall for I got to try many things and liked most items in the box.  My favorites were the black rice snacks and the gluten free bar. The kids voted for the double chocolate cookies and Tasty’s fruit chews.   It was a fun way to try new items.

I really appreciated Jeanne setting me up to try this box.  I definitely don’t think I would have taken the plunge on my own.  Gluten-free items can be pretty expensive.  Being able to try samples of 12 products for $19.99 is a really good deal.  There’s nothing quite as frustrating as paying $10 for a new gluten-free item only to find out it tastes like shoe leather.

If folks seeking out gluten-free products think of this as 10-12 samples, then they should consider this a good value.  I received a second box that had a completely different set of products so I could see it being valuable to subscribe for multiple months.  More on that second box later!

This link has a Love with Food promo code for 50% off the gluten free box if you would like to try!
