Sometimes when we are booking flights, we don’t just want to know what the cheapest flight is. We also want to know what flights might be upgradable with miles or a RDU/other certificate.
This isn’t immediately apparent, so you’ll need to research the fare class and other factors.
30k will show you which flights are upgradeable, and will also show you how many miles are required to book the upgrade (if applicable).
This feature in the plugin is part of an overall package that informs you how many miles (redeemable and elite) you can get for each flight you book.
I personally find this upgrade feature very useful. I’ve had to do a lot of research while booking, making sure I was looking at ones that were also upgradable.
The catch is that this plugin costs $20 per year. The first 30 days are free, but after that, you must subscribe.
This may not be a plugin that is valuable to everyone–but this can save a lot of time for those who prefer upgradable flights. (A lot of mileage runners and frequent flyers prefer this).
If you are an infrequent traveler, I don’t think this would be worth it. But for someone constantly booking flights and interested in upgrades, this could save a lot of time.
Lately, I’ve been thinking about the opportunity cost of doing all of this flight research. I think this software is worth $20 a year if I can use that to alleviate my research time.
I think it’s at least worth the 30 day trial (again, if you are a frequent traveler), but YMMV.
