Air Traffic Controller: “I Feel Like an Idiot, But Maintain a Visual With the Boat”

This is a funny back and forth between the ATC and a pilot.

Apparently, a boat was crossing when a Piedmont flight (old school!) was landing.

The ATC requested that they maintain visual with the crossing boat.  He also called himself an idiot and the pilot quickly responded with “affirmative”.

The ATC asked him to clarify whether he just called him an idiot or affirmed that he would maintain visual with the crossing boat.

The pilot had no comment.
